We went to the Blue Planet Aquarium at Ellesmere Port on Monday. It’s the first time we’ve had a family day out since before lockdown. Now I’ve mentioned before I’ve got a fear of deep water and the sea, so this wasn’t my first choice, but the kids really enjoyed it and I don’t want them to have my irrational fear and the issues that come with it (I can barely swim).

It was definitely different to the last time we came to the aquarium. Obviously their safety measures are in place. We had to wear masks all the way round, except when we sat down at the restaurant. The restaurant was also doing the 50% off Eat Out to Help Out, which runs Monday to Wednesday. There were hand sanitizers all over the place and markings for the 2m distance and for a one way system around the aquarium.

While it wasn’t my first choice for a day out, I still had a good time, especially as the kids loved every moment of it. It was just nice to have a family day out and feel like we’re slowly returning to normal.
