With everything that’s going on in the country at the moment, I can imagine I’m not the only one who is planning to stay in on Mother’s Day. With this in my mind, I’ve been racking my brains with ideas on what to do and I’ve come up with a few ideas that I thought I would share.
1. Have an Indoor Picnic
If you’re kids are like mine, I advise a large blanket, but it’s a fun way to enjoy your Mother’s Day meal.
2. Introduce Your Kids to Your Favourite Childhood Films
This is probably going to work better with slightly older children, but the inner film fanatic in me can’t wait. I’ve got a list of my favourite movies, including Mulan, Matilda, Anastasia and of course, The Nightmare Before Christmas. I imagine Frey might make it halfway through Mulan (if I’m lucky) but I’m looking forward to it either way.

3. Take a Bath
On your own, with the door locked. I know, I know, it’s a crazy idea. I generally prefer showers to baths, but the sound of lying in the bath, with some nice bubble bath and a face mask on sounds heavenly at the moment.
4. Have a Dance Party
Both of my kids love music and Frey in that adorable stage where he runs around like a lunatic, giggling everytime the music comes on, and I love to dance. It’s also a great way to burn off all that excess energy, so a win-win situation all round.

5. Take a Trip Down Memory Lane.
This idea actually came from my husband, and it’s a really sweet one. Looking through all your old photos of when you’re kids were little, reminiscing about how small they used to be and how adorable they were. I especially like the idea of doing this with older kids/teenagers,who would either love it or probably find it extremely embarrassing.

I’m working this mother’s day! ☹️ it’s going to be a tough one. I can’t visit my mum who is in social distancing due to being vulnerable to the virus. & I’m a carer so am working all hours to help out during staff shortages… But I hope and wish all mum’s in the world a happy mothers day & hopefully we all get to do something special even if it’s not our normal way of celebrating… X

Thank you. I know the feeling, I’m working Mother’s Day as well. It’s not fun but it is necessary at the moment. Hope you have a lovely Mother’s Day despite it x
