When I was pregnant with Frey I watched about 20 YouTube videos and read multiple blogs all about hospital bags for both baby and mummy. So I thought I would do a ‘What’s in My Baby’s Hospital Bag’ this time round as the blogposts that I read when I was pregnant with Frey really helped me prepare. So hopefully this might do the same for any first time mums out there.
Without further ado, my list:
- 7 Sleepsuits, 4 newborn, 3 0-3 months
- 7 Bodysuits 4 newborn, 3 0-3 months
- 3 rompers, 2 newborn, 1 0-3 months
- 1 cardigan
- 3 pair of socks
- 2 hats
- 2 bibs
- Going home outfit
- Baby blanket
- 15 or so Nappies
- 3 muslins
- Pack of baby wipes
- Nappy bags
- Cotton wool

So I know it seems a bit excessive compared to some, but Frey was an unexpected 6 day hospital stay, and I hadn’t packed enough. Which meant the hubby had to bring in several more changes of clothes and more nappies, wipes and the like. This time I’m not taking any chances, especially as I will have to stay overnight. Also no one can really prepare you for the amount of clothing a newborn gets through in a day, so sometimes being a bit excessive can be a good thing. Which is why I’m also bringing bibs with us this time (I didn’t last time round), Frey spat up quite a bit during the first 24 hours, I thought I would try and salvage as many clothes as possible this time round.

As for the clothing itself, I know there’s quite a bit of a mixture but baby 2 is due at the end of June, and anyone who has lived in the UK will tell you how unpredictable our weather is, especially in Summer. We can go from hail, to sun, to rain in the course of a few hours. So I thought I would cover all bases, with sleepsuits, bodysuits and rompers as a just in case. Also having a mixture of both newborn and 0-3 months is always a good idea. Frey was on the higher end of average with his weight when he was born, but he was really long, so I found the 0-3 sleepsuits fit him better than the newborn ones.

Packing the baby’s hospital bag has definitely brought it home that we’ve only got 3-4 weeks to go until we become a family of four. Which is pretty scary and exciting, now just got to make sure that I’ve got everything else ready before the big day.
