Mother’s Day is tomorrow, So I just wanted to Say . . . .

Thank you to all the partners and coparents, the ones who share the mealtimes and poopy nappies. Who are there to tag us out, after we’ve spent the day singing ‘row, row, row your boat’ at least 50 times and have had to rebuild the train tracks multiple times after our little bundles of terror have destroyed it. Who understands the tears of frustration and of joy that go hand in hand with parenting.

My co-parent and partner in crime

Thank you to all the grandparents, who will distract and cuddle their grandchild long enough for us to sit down and have a cup of tea and a slice of toast in peace. Who love to sing nursery rhymes and lullaby’s that were sung to us as children and tell us stories from when they had young children.

Thank you to all the aunts, uncles and cousins. Who jump at the chance to babysit, and happily get on their knees and play for hours and listen to our children babble away. Allowing us enough time to get through the laundry and even put the dishwasher on once or twice without the interruption of our children trying to ‘help’.

Frey’s beautiful auntie Helena

Thank you to all the parent friends; The ones who always have extra wipes, muslins and nappy bags to hand when we inadvertently forgot to put them in the bag. Who never make us feel guilty for using a parenting shortcut (and even have a few suggestions themselves).

Thank you to all the non and not-yet-parent friends, who never complain when we’re 20 minutes late because our child has decided that clothing is now optional. Who always there with alcohol and adult conversation to hand on the rare nights we have out without our kids.

My wonderful friend Tracy and my beautiful baby boy

And lastly, thank you to our children, for all the joy, happiness and unending love has changed our lives forever and are the reason Mother’s Day is a day we get to celebrate.

It’s true what they say, it does take a village to raise a child and I understand that so much better since having Frey. So I just wanted to say thank you to everyone for being my village.
