The UK is in the middle of a heatwave and I’m hating it. I’m a pale person with Irish ancestry, I do not do Summer, the heat, the sun, the insects. And sadly my son seems to be the same way.
The first week or so was hellish, Frey was constantly cranky, not sleeping properly and his eating habits were all over the place. He spent most of his time in just his nappy and has been getting heat rash on and off since the heat wave started. We spent most of our time hidden away inside (our house is normally quite cold, great in Summer, not so great in Winter)
Thankfully since that first week, things have slowly been improving. Hubby came home with a brand new fan for our bedroom after a particularly bad night when little man was up literally every hour; we’ve taken to turning it on 20 minutes before we put Frey down for bed cooling down the room and he’s settling down so much better.
The husband also bought a paddling pool, which has been very much enjoyed, along with the occasional bit of ice cream when he’s gotten really hot.
I’ll be honest, it hasn’t has been as bad as I thought it would be. It’s another learning experience for all of us; with Frey learning how to cope with the heat and us learning how to cope with Frey.
